Walt Disney (1901-1966) was a producer, director, scriptwriter and American animator, with possible Spanish origins. Thanks to its large number of contributions to the entertainment industry of the twentieth century, it is considered an international icon in the history of children’s animation film.
In 1923, with his brother Roy, they began to produce cartoons in Hollywood, reaching what would be his most acclaimed character: Mickey Mouse. The 18 of November of 1928 would be released the animated short that he himself wrote, debut of the mythical personage of Mickey Mouse.
With the founding of the company The Walt Disney Productions , a long list of successes and milestones inside and outside the cinema would end up happening highlighting Walt Disney as a true businessman: first came in 1938, Snow White, the first English animated feature film , and the first to use the Technicolor. It was the most successful box office movie of that year with an income of 8 million dollars at its premiere. In 1955, it inaugurated the emblematic park “Disneyland”, in Anaheim, California, which would be followed by Disneyworld, near Orlando (USA), and then by Eurodisney, in the vicinity of Paris.
Later in the world of cinema would be released films such as “Treasure Island”, “Robin Hood” or “Mary Poppins”, all with real actors. In animation, unforgettable works would arrive like “Peter Pan”, “Aladdin”, “The Lion King” or “Pocahontas”. All these creations have led him to represent the person who has received the most Oscar awards (a total of 32).
Walt Disney died on December 15, 1966 at age 65 because of lung cancer.
