A new malware appears on the horizon infecting users through the Facebook messaging service. This is reported by several users in several countries that are apparently being targeted by a campaign that offers a new variety of malware called Digmine that can be a headache for its victims.
Beware of strange files
Digmine is spreading through the direct messages we send through Facebook’s instant messaging application, Facebook Messenger. The hook through which malware sneaks onto our computers is a file called Video_xxxx.zip (where xxxx is a four-digit number) that simulates being a video to attract our curiosity,
Actually this file hides executable that nothing else to start installs automatically the mentioned extension of Chrome and will begin to undermine cryptocurrencies.
As always, we recommend opening files of doubtful origin.
