Lamborghini enters the market of luxury utility vehicles and does so with one of the best designs as well as a V8 engine that delivers a lot of power for the segment.
Its design is sporty and something different from what we are used by the company, although it is aggressive and with sharp lines and details that make us remember that it is a Lamborghini.
The front of Urus stands out for its grille that looks imposing and although it shares the base with Bentley Bentayga, it marks a new design in sports SUVs. In terms of technology, engine and platforms, it is also supported by what was seen in Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne, which are part of the Volkswagen Group.
Urus will carry wheels of 21 and 23 inches, being the largest for a production vehicle, as well as the option of putting a Pirelli tires for winter and drive with great fullness and exploit to the maximum its 4.0-liter V8 engine.
It will also be equipping technologies that we have seen in Porsche, such as a directional rear axle, adaptive suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes, an active axle stabilization system, among others.
Its interior has premium materials such as leathers, aluminum and carbon fiber. Although some features remind us of their group brothers in Urus we noticed that the center console is designed for the driver who likes to get the most out of a Lamborghini, check the steering wheel and the selector so that it is distributed in Strada, Sport, Corsa , Sabbia, Terra and Neve.
Lamborghini Urus with Volkswagen Group engine
The new SUV of Lamborghini incorporates the new engine of German Group that also use Porsche Cayenne and Porsche Panamera in its variants Turbo.
A novelty for the Italian firm is that it is the only supercharged engine in the range that produces the 650 horses and 850 Nm of torque, which allows it to reach 0 to 100 km / h in just 3.6 seconds – two tenths less than Lamborghini Huracán and the fastest SUV in the world.
It has a maximum speed of 305 km / h and would achieve 0 to 200 km / h in 12.8 seconds. By the way, the engine is coupled to an eight-speed transmission and even a full-drive system.
For next year we will have a fully hybrid version of Urus plug it in. So the company will be making the leap to electrification.
The production will begin in 2018 in the renovated Sant’Agata factory, which will have a capacity to manufacture 3,500 units – which is why it would become the company’s best-selling model.
