Switzerland’s Martina Hingis, who had planned to stop her career after her final match at the Masters, lost in the semi-finals of the doubles match with Taiwan’s Chan Yung-Jan against the duo of Hungary’s Timea Babos and Czech Andrea Hlavackova 6-4, 7-6 (7/5), in Singapore. The N.1 World Double, and former N.1 singles, was seeking a 10th trophy this season with his partner after winning the US Open and 3 of the 4 “First Mandatory” (Indian Wells, Madrid, Beijing). The youngest N.1 in women’s singles (at age 16 in 1997) has raised 25 Grand Slam titles during her career: 5 singles, 13 doubles ladies and the rest mixed doubles.
