Improving sexual life has always been a great concern for human beings, due to this, many drugs have been created that fulfill this function; unfortunately, the consequences that these cause can be very detrimental to health, which is why it has opted to go to natural products that do not generate harmful side effects.
There are many myths surrounding aphrodisiac products, especially those that are of natural origin. If we search, it is more likely that we will find a large list of plants, drinks and foods that supposedly help us increase libido; but most of the benefits attributed to these are false and that list would be reduced to only a couple.
According to Professor Massimo Marcone, from the University of Guelph(Canada), the real aphrodisiacs are saffron and ginseng.
The scientist says in Food Research International , the journal of the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology, that it has been proven that both substances are “true stimulants of performance“.
Although chocolate supposedly has aphrodisiac effects, scientists found no evidence that it is linked to sexual arousal or satisfaction.
“Perhaps some people feel an effect due to certain chocolate ingredients , mainly phenylethylamine , a compound that is believed to have an effect on the levels of serotonin and endorphins in the brain,” explains the researcher.
The experts found that the only substances that have been proven to improve human sexual function are Panax ginseng, a plant whose root is commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine, and saffron, a spice derived from the Crocus sativus flower.
This spice, the researchers say, was one of the ingredients that proved to have “sustained effects” in stimulating sexual drive and performance. It is believed that there are more plants with these properties, but there are still studies that corroborate the fact.
