Phishing, the most likely cause of hacking your Google Account

There are many ways to get hacked on the Internet. One of the most common practices is phishing and it is probably by this one that your Google account could be hacked. This is according to a recent and extensive study by the Mountain View giant.

This study was conducted in collaboration with the University of California, Berkeley. She focused on analyzing the black market between March 2016 and March 2017. According to Google, “our research followed several black markets that offered third-party password security breaches or as many as 25,000 tools hacking used for phishing and keylogging [recording of what the user types on his keyboard, Ed]. In total, these sources allowed us to identify 788,000 identifiers stolen by keyloggers, 12 million by phishing and 3.3 billion by third-party vulnerabilities.”

In other words, besides the flaw in a third party service, which is unfortunately completely independent of the main service, it is phishing that should be wary. The findings of this study also correspond to a report published several months ago revealing a vast scam via a Google Docs very convincing. Google also claims to have used these results to further enhance the security of its users’ accounts…
