Raptors diminished make fun of the Cavaliers

Very few people would have predicted that deprived of Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka, the Raptors would win by 34 points ahead of the defending champions in the East, the Cavaliers. It happened Thursday at the Air Canada Center, with Toronto taking 133-99 ahead of Cleveland.

Delon Wright (center) and his Toronto Raptors teammates surprised the Cleveland Cavaliers despite a few absences.

Technically, it equaled the biggest margin of victory of the Raptors (29-11) this season. They prevailed by this gap against Philadelphia in October and Atlanta in November.

But Thursday’s win is even more surprising as Lowry and Ibaka were absent due to injury and suspension, respectively.

Fred VanVleet led the Raptors with 22 points, his best game of the season. He got six shots from three points, two more than CJ Miles. The latter has collected 16 points, just like Pascal Siakam.

Jonas Valanciunas scored 15 points, Norman Powell 14, DeMar DeRozan 13 and Jakob Poeltl a dozen.

Valanciunas also distinguished with 18 rebounds. Poeltl signed three blocks and DeRozan eight assists.

Dwane Casey’s group is now preparing to host the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night. The defending NBA champions defeated the Raptors by five points in October in Oakland.

LeBron James had 26 points, but no other Cavaliers (26-15) had 13 points, a Jeff Green total.
