Women are more “ready” during menstruation

Most of us do not like to be in our “days”: we suffer abrupt changes of mood, we feel inflamed and what to say about the dreaded colic; however, this research could make us see menstruation with different eyes…

Researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in LeipzigGermany, say that women become smarter when they menstruate, because the levels of estrogen in the blood increase during ovulation and this causes the brain to grow.

The study, led by Dr. Julia Sacher, consisted of using magnetic resonance imaging to capture images of the brain of a woman in perfect health, during the days of her menstrual period, and observed that the alteration in estrogen levels increases the volume of the hippocampus, whose function is to regulate our memory and emotions.

Although the hormonal alterations, typical of menstruation, generate some changes in us that are not so pleasant, they also encourage our cognitive abilities, potentiating our intelligence and perceptive capacity every month.
