We are in the dates where there are more rumors and leaks around the new devices, although Xiaomi has given a preview of things to come, the rumors are not over and now everything seems to indicate that their new flagship will not include a fingerprint sensor as a method of authentication.

3D facial recognition

According to the information leaked from a portal in China, the manufacturer could be developing a new solution linked to facial recognition. Apparently Xiaomi is working hand in hand with Qualcomm, Truly Opto-Electronics and Himax Technologies, the system will be based on proprietary hardware and many claim that it will be included initially in the Mi 7.

If these rumors are true, Xiaomi would be ruling out the possibility of including a low screen fingerprint sensor, recently announced by Synaptics and would be opting to compete with Apple and its Face ID.

Companies like Huawei could be working for some time on technologies similar to facial recognition, without having materialized in any of their devices, however, both Huawei and Vivo, the brand’s main competitors, are focused on the inclusion of the Clear ID, the new optical fingerprint sensor that will debut at Vivo xplay 7 in 2018.

It is rumored that this 3D facial recognition technology begins to be manufactured in the first quarter of the year. In addition to this, Xiaomi confirmed that its new flagship will be re-powered with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor, FullVision 5.65 “screen and 18: 9 ratio, taking advantage of the new reduced margin design. 6GB of RAM and 3,200 mAh battery, which could be charged wirelessly, no doubt an all-terrain device that many users will want to have.
